My basic assumptions are:
The climate emergency is real and is happening.
It appears that several of Earth’s resiliency systems are close to irreversible tipping points into unknown — and probably unlivable — ecological systems.
I am deliberately “speaking to the choir.” The 3/4 of Americans who think the climate emergency is real are feeling alone, overwhelmed, and scared. We need encouragement. We need to know that together we can stop the climate emergency.
The climate emergency requires big economic and political changes in our society. Technology alone will not be enough.
There are effective non-violent tools for social and political change. For the kinds of changes we need to make, violence would be counter-productive.
That the climate emergency is so huge and all-encompassing that we are going to need the best thinking and well-organized local action of all Earth’s people. The people who are usually not asked for their input may have the most important information and ideas.
