To change the world in the ways that can stop and reverse the climate emergency, we need a vision to aim for while we work on local projects.
That vision can be made up of lots of partial visions, each of us adding something from our own areas of interest and skill. Eight billion minds will be able to invent better ways to do things.
If we take out the inefficiency, waste, and wealth-hoarding in our current system, it should be possible for all of us to have lives without hardship. Everyone will have time and energy to do art, music, theatre, athletics, gardening; and to really take care of infants, elders, and folks with disabilities.
Of course, our first reaction to a big vision is to mention all the reasons “it can’t be done.”
But: humans are magnificent, brilliant, creative beings, able to think of new solutions to any real problem. What if you let yourself daydream a bit — then share your dream with the people you care about?
